Find out all you need to know about the new Putrajaya Line MRT that started operations on on March 16, 2023!
The entire 57.7km line from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral will be opened to the public at 3pm on March 16, 2023.
The Putrajaya MRT line, the country’s second MRT line will be fully opened at 3pm on March 16, 2023 following the completion of Phase 2 of the project.
Built at a cost of RM30.53 billion, the 57.7km Putrajaya MRT line has 36 stations from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral.
The line, which is expected to have an initial ridership of 104,000 passengers a day, also has 10 interchanges and connecting stations, including Titiwangsa, Ampang Park, Chan Sow Lin and Sungai Besi.
The line is expected to reduce congestion, especially on roads and highways leading to Kuala Lumpur city centre, including on the Maju Expressway and Sungai Besi Expressway.
‘Ducky’
A total of 49 electric four-car trains, named “Ducky”, will serve the Putrajaya line. Each train is capable of carrying 1,200 people at a time.
The trains are fully-automatic, self-driving and rely on two braking systems to ensure the safety of passengers.
Frequency
It takes about 84 minutes to get from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral with operations starting as early as 6am and ending at midnight.
During peak hours, the frequency between trains is around four to six minutes, non-peak hours (7-10 minutes) and weekends and public holidays (7-15 minutes).
Park and ride
A total of 6,416 parking bays are available across 17 stations.
MRT users can enjoy a flat rate of RM4.30 if the same Touch ‘n Go card is used for parking and riding the MRT train on the same day.

However, the user will be charged a maximum of RM16.10 if they do not tap their card out by the end of the day.
Standard rates per hour will be applied for non-MRT users, RM3.30 for the first hour and RM1.10 for every subsequent hour. RM16.10 is the maximum charge per day.
Other facilities
MRT Putrajaya Line feeder buses will provide first and last-mile connectivity covering more than 350km through 31 routes.
Only cashless payments are accepted for the feeder buses, with fares ranging from RM1 to RM2.40, depending on the routes.
MyRapid Concession Card holders are eligible for a 50% fare discount.
